The Greek population in the U.K. is currently estimated at approximately 500,000. Most Greeks in the U.K. arrived after the Greek War of Independence. A considerable number of Greek students also study in the U.K., with Greece being the fourth most common country of origin amongst overseas students in 2006/07.
