Central and Western Macedonia are regions in northern Greece and attract many Greek diaspora travellers annually. Macedonia is also home to other major cities in Greece including Serres, Kastoria, Florina, Naousa, Edessa, Ptolemaida, Katerini, Grevena, and Kozani. The Halkidiki peninsula in Macedonia is a famous tourist hot spot with magnificent beaches, resorts, and is home to Greece’s autonomous monastic state – Mount Athos.
